If you're feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, or frustrated by patterns that seem difficult to change, therapy can help. Many of the people I work with are bright individuals who know what they need to do but struggle to follow through consistently. They may be navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, executive functioning challenges, grief, academic stress, or major life transitions.

I especially enjoy working with teens, college students, and young adults as they navigate the unique demands of school, work, relationships, and increasing independence. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, connect with their values, build on their strengths, and develop practical strategies so they can work through the difficult times and enjoy and appreciate the good times. I believe therapy should feel supportive, practical, and free from judgment. Together, we'll work to reduce overwhelm, improve organization, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence.

With more than 12 years of clinical experience, I have worked with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and stages of life. I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, among others, tailored to each client's goals and needs.

I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and have provided guest lectures on mental health for college students. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider licensed in Texas and Colorado.

I consider it a privilege to be part of your journey toward meaningful change and greater wellbeing.

Life doesn't always move in a straight line — change, pressure, and big emotions can show up at any age, and finding your footing again takes support. I help clients move through these seasons with more confidence and clarity, not less of themselves.

My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that every individual's story is unique and deserving of compassion. I hold a Master's in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, and I draw on more than 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families — from school-based counseling and crisis response to inpatient psychiatric care — to tailor therapy to each client's specific needs.

I'm trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and I bring this same depth of training to every session, whether we're working through anxiety, processing a difficult experience, or simply learning to navigate everyday stress with more confidence.

Some of the most meaningful moments in my career have come from showing up for people and families during their hardest days — including serving on crisis response teams following community traumas — and helping them find their footing again. That same steady, compassionate presence is what I bring to our work together.

Above all, I want my clients to leave our sessions feeling heard, equipped, and hopeful. Together, we'll work toward greater resilience, confidence, and clarity — so you can move forward feeling more like yourself.

Melinda Lea, Ph.D.

For more than 35 years, I've been drawn to getting to know people and helping them find greater satisfaction in their lives and relationships. At the heart of my work is a genuine curiosity about each person's story and a commitment to creating a space where you feel understood, supported, and respected.

I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults in individual, couples, and family therapy. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with people from many different generations, backgrounds, professions, family structures, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Because every person brings a unique set of experiences and challenges, I tailor therapy to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

In session, I draw from cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, family systems, and insight-oriented therapies. Together, we focus on strengthening relationships, building practical coping skills, deepening self-understanding, and creating meaningful, lasting change.

My clinical experience includes working with depression, trauma, grief, substance abuse (including alcohol and drug abuse), stress-related disorders, personality disorders, and relationship concerns. I am also available for ADHD assessments for adolescents and adults.

Prior to entering private practice, I served as Director of Psychiatric Services at a large urban hospital, overseeing psychiatric programs for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as an outpatient substance abuse program.

I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University and my master's degree in Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake.  I have also taught classes at Houston Community College and given seminars and lectures to the professional community on interpersonal and familial relationships, stress management, communication skills, and alcohol and drug related topics..

Having practiced in the greater Houston and Clear Lake communities for more than three decades , I've spent my career helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges, strengthen their connections, and move toward more satisfying and meaningful lives.
